November Activity - Night Cycling / Skating

Key says

Pat is having some night cycling activity with her colleagues and decided that it can potentially be our November activity. The colleagues have not objection in me joining them in their activity so as a result, this became our November activity! Basically we started at Hougang and cycle / skate through the Punggol Waterway and eventually reached Jalan Kayu Prata place for some supper.

As Pat borrowed bicycle from her colleagues, we had to cycle back to Hougang to return the bicycle before heading home. It was past 3am by the time we reached our home and after a quick wash, we went straight to bed.

Pat says

Night cycling is one of my to-do list and it is always a wonderful outing idea (peaceful, less crowd, windy etc..). Though it can be a bit dangerous as a couple to cycle at night. So when my colleagues wanted to go for night cycling, I of course took this as an opportunity for our November Activity! =)

It can also be a tricky thing to do when you don't own a bicycle. Though I do know of bicycle shops that allow you to rent a bicycle for the night. But I was lucky to have a friend that has an extra bicycle to loan me! hehehe.. Overall, it was a great experience to cycle around Hougang / Sengkang / Punggol with friends and love ones. Topped it off with supper and a good night sleep after the exercise. 

October Activity - Otello

Key says

The October activity is just a simple game of Otello. What's even simpler is that we downloaded the game via Google Play Store and complete a match on our way home. Though I'm usually the one who won in our couple activity, Pat is a much better player than me in Otello. As such the winner for the October activity is Pat!!

Pat says

One great thing about having a monthly activity set is that we have to rack our brains and a lot of googling to find an activity that we can play for a particular month. Many a time, it is a game we have never played before as a couple (which is a very good thing).

For October, we discovered we could play Otello! I, for one, did not know that there was such a "chim" name to this game (known to me as Reversi). hahaha.. But the name is very fitting to our October activity so Otello it is!

I love this new age, as many things we can simply download the game to our handphone and play it anywhere and anytime (without the need to bring the physical items out). Extra bonus if you can download the game for free.

And so, Otello is a game that can be downloaded for free and you can find it easily on Google Play Store (we use Android phones).  It is a super fun and nerve-racking game! hahaha.. I love this game a lot cause I can beat Key at it.. hahaha.. =p

August Activity - Adventure Cove Waterpark

For the August activity, we decided to go to Adventure Cove Waterpark for some water activities! However, as we did not purchase those water-proof cover for handphones, we are unable to take pictures of the things we do... :(

Pat says

Yeah! We are going to Adventure Cover Waterpark! hahaha.. I'm not a fan of water and neither do I know how to swim. But after going to WetnWild at Gold Coast Australia, I'm a converted Waterpark goer. hahaha.. However I was bit disappointed with our Singapore version. There were limited rides and hence super long queues. Of course it's wonderful to have a Waterpark in Singapore but I hope that there will be more rides in future. 

Pince and Pints

Pat says

Pince and Pints officially opened to the public on Monday. We took half day PM leave today and I suggested to take this opportunity to try it and avoid queues since they don't allow reservations.

There are basically 3 mains available on the Menu: Live Whole Lobster Grilled or Steamed, Lobster Roll and Chilli Lobster. All dishes are priced at $48.

We had the Grilled Lobster and the Lobster Roll. Both mains came with fries and salad.

Grilled Lobster: The lobster came out to be unexpectedly big. It was the biggest lobster that I have seen and eaten. After tasting it, I felt that the lobster meat was fresh and sweet. I didn't really liked the herbed butter sauce though. I felt that it was too light to complement the grilled lobster. Also, I didn't really like to use my hands or was very good at using my hands to remove shells so I had a bit of a problem in removing the shells of the lobster. But Key helped me when he saw me struggling. I had a nice pincer meat to bite into without it's shell. =D

Lobster Roll: I was pleasantly surprised on my first bite. The bread was nicely toasted with butter and there were huge chucks of cold lobster meat to sink my teeth into! I liked the bread!! A must get for those who don't like to remove shells. They provided lemon for the dish but in the end I added some lemon to my Grilled Lobster too. I realized that I quite fancy lobster with lemon. They also provided garlic sauce which I fell in love with and added to the grilled lobster sometimes. Hahahaha.. The waiter did say you can mix and match. =p Lastly, the salad had parmesan cheese on top, which was another nice matching.

Bee's knees: This is technically gin, manuka honey and lemon. I was eyeing on it and another drink. But since the waiter highly recommended this and said that it was very popular among the ladies, it became my first choice immediately! Hahaha.. Which was all good as I felt that this was an excellent pairing with the lobsters. Lobsters does not have very strong flavour and the sauces that came with it were on a salty side. The drink has a bitter sweet to it and adds variety to your taste buds. I was also very impress with this creation as I never knew gin and honey could mix. Lastly, they were very generous with the gin in the drink which I was very pleased.



I'm not an expert with lobsters and neither have I eaten a lot of lobsters in my life. I usually don't order lobsters as I thought that it would usually be very expensive. I felt that the prices here were decent as I had to eat a lot of fresh lobster meat to eat. Overall, the highlight of the dinner to me was the Lobster Roll, Bee's knees and the salad. The waiters there were very helpful and would introduce the menu and the food to you when it arrives. I always liked to be introduced to the food when it is being served. Great customer service! =D

Well I guess most LB fans is aware of the place and perhaps dragging all the boyfriend, husband or girlfriends to try out this place and so here I am with Pat. Since Pat has done all the introduction of the shop and food, so I shall comment on my experience.

The ambiance is not too bad but I think that it is slightly overcrowded with staff for a restaurant of that size (and a menu of only 3 food). It's not a bad thing as long as service standard is maintained but for a start i was caught a bit of guard when I passed like 9 service staff as we were shown to our table. Service is not too bad as they tried to explain the food and ask about having drinks and/or if it's for sharing etc. One of the not so pleasant experience is that initially, the entire restaurant is filled with vinaigrette smell but eventually it's gone.

The food is not too bad but since there are only 3 food selection, it will basically be a been-there-done-that type of restaurant for me.

Tomi Sushi

Key says

Pat wanted to have a celebration meal for her 2 years in her current job and so we decided to take half day off to have some personal time and have a good meal (for lunch and dinner). For lunch we have decided to try Tomi Sushi while dinner is at Pince and Pints. The price for Tomi Sushi in my opinion isn't really affordable but the food is pretty fresh and nice.

I recall the first time I was introduced to this place was by my friend who brought me there for my birthday celebration. I was very impressed with their sushi rice. Being a japanese cuisine lover and not really liking to eat rice, this was a huge discovery to me. I dragged Key to try their lunch set as it is much affordable compared to their Ala Carte menu.

As always, their sushi is awesome. I love the sashimi and the salad too! The fish and the tempura was decent. However, I don't really enjoy the chawamushi as it does not have much taste to it. Overall, another satisfactory meal at Tomi Sushi.

Slappy Cake

After spending a day at the S.E.A Aquarium, we were looking for our dinner and chanced upon the place at Resort World Sentosa. The concept of making our own pancake caught our attention and we decided to give it a try. We order a standard pancake mix with blueberry and banana as condiments for the pancake; and an omelette to share. Pat suggested a pancake making competition and we took turns to make pancake of non-standard shape (i.e. round). Overall, I would have to agree that Pat turns out to be the winner...

Now for the review of the food. The omelette is normal (tasted better at Paris Baguette). The pancake mixture is not too bad and for a standard bottle, we made about 6 small pancakes. Overall it's a good place to try out just for the fun of it but will not recommend for people who is looking for a good meal.

Jun / Jul Activity - Jigsaw Puzzle

Key says

Once again we sort of "cheated" for the activity for these 2 months. Theoretically speaking, we should have 2 activities but in view that Pat is away for a while in June and we took our time to look for the jigsaw puzzle (bought and started in June), we decided to allow the activity to cross over to July (by completing it in July) and consider it as June / July activity (since both start with "J").

For the jigsaw puzzle, we decided on the spices theme because we thought we can at least display it in our kitchen once it's completed (killing 2 birds with 1 stone - activity plus decoration for house). We bought the jigsaw puzzle at "Perfect Fit Jigsaw Puzzles" which is located at Velocity@Novena Square #02-02. One of the thing that I like about their jigsaw puzzle is that they have jigsaws made of plastic, which can hold on by themselves, i.e there is not need for baseboard and glue to hold the jigsaws before framing it up! Also for such plastic jigsaws, it comes with readily available frame which you can slot the jigsaw into once completed!

We spent a total of about 10hours (according to Pat) to complete the puzzle. The beginning was rather easy but nearing the end it's more of trial and error as the dark shades all look the same! Nevertheless, am glad that we completed it in the end!

And so we did our first jigsaw puzzle for our June/July activity!!! I chance upon this jigsaw puzzle store at Velocity@Novena Square and I thought they had quite a number of puzzles to chose from. Happy with what I found, I decided to bring Key to the store to decide on the puzzle. I was contemplating between several designs, abstract or scenic mainly. Then we saw this spice jigsaw puzzle that looks not bad and seems to be a great idea for kitchen deco! hehehe.. save money. =D

And so.. after several days and a total of about 10 hours, we finally complete it! The spoons and spices was easy because they had different colours. But the background was horrible!! We had to mix and match and try and error before we even managed to complete it. Achievement unlock indeed!

Tonkotsu Kazan Ramen

Key says

Late dinner and decided to try some new stall. The Kazan Ramen is meant to be shared so we order 1 for the both of us. As I wanted to try their hot stone rice, I ordered an ala carte hot stone rice and we order fried gyoza to share. The hot stone rice was nice and the gyoza too (but bait oily). For the Ramen, the amount of sauce to pour is up to you and I strongly recumbent NOT to pour everything in as it is very salty!! Price is decent and the portion is good. A good alternative for filling meal.

We were at Novena and decided to try a new stall that we have never tried before. I was amused at the Kazan Ramen style where there is like a hat to it and it kinda semi cooked infront of you.
Luckily the waiter informed us that the portion for Kazan Ramen was quite a lot so we order one only. As key wanted to try their fried rice, we ordered that too and gyoza for additional meat intake.

We didn't had to do much. The waiter will just bring the Kazan Ramen to you and pour the soup into the pot. Overall, one of the interesting ramen that I have tasted so far but of course I had tasted better. The hot stone rice was good, while the gyoza was bit oily and so-so only. Overall, I think it was interesting to try it but would really frequent it.

100 Happy Days (Completed)

And we have completed our 100 Happy Days! I think the most difficult part of this challenge was to actually remember which day it is. =p

Will I continue to a happy 200 days or happy 300 days etc? Afraid not. It has been a nice 100 days challenge, however I felt that happiness cannot be solely expressed by pictures or by words. It's similar to the concept of love perhaps. Remember when someone asked you about why you love someone etc? and you think real hard about it but sometimes there is really no answer about it but you still love the person. hahaha.. sama sama.. Completed my happy 100 days and perhaps also signifying the end of my instagram activity? For the former, it has been a long process and I do agree with Pat that sometimes not all things that make you happy can be captured as a picture and thus, making this a challenge. For the latter, for now I'm using it to follow my friends' update and will I post any more things through it is an unknown variable. Anyway, here are my happy 100 days photos.
